Born on February 9, 1926, in Clear Fork, WV, she was the daughter of the late Calaway and Lottie Blankenship. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Franklin, Sampy Daniel, and King Edward Blankenship.
Elga leaves behind the love of her life, husband of 64 years and 10 months, Roy Short; her two beautiful daughters, Cheryl Lynn Patrick and her husband, Michael, of Durham, NC, and Beverly Dawn Kourey and her husband, Terry, of Charleston, WV; and her only grandson, Michael Brandon Patrick and his wife Stacy who blessed her 5 weeks ago with her great-grandson, Cooper Roy Patrick; in addition, Elga is survived by 3 sisters, Eula Bailey, Helen (Don) Toler, and Glenna Sue Childress; and one brother, W.C. (Erma) Blankenship. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Elga's life will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2010, at Adam Toler Memorial Chapel with Rev. Keith Reed officiating. Elga will be laid to rest in Blankenship Family Cemetery, Clear Fork, WV.
The family will receive friends from noon until time of service Friday at the funeral home.

Espiritu and staff of the Greater Charleston Dialysis for their care and support over the past 2 years, Dr. Marciano Lee, Charleston Heart Specialist, and the doctors and staff of CAMC Memorial, especially on 4 West and for the tender and compassionate care of the Bower Hospice House in Beckley.
