Last rites are being held this (Wednesday) afternoon at 2:00 in the Terre Haute Methodist church for a beloved member of that congregation and the village of Terre Haute for most of her 91 years of life. Mrs. Ida Mary Painter passed away in Mary Davier hospital on Monday after an extended illness.

Rev. R. J. Weiss is officiating at the funeral service. Burial in charge of the Banks and Beals funeral home will be in the Terre Haute cemetery.

Mrs. Ida Mary Painter was born at Oxford, Pennsylvania on December 8, 1872, and died on Monday, December 9, 1963 at 3:15 a.m. at the Mary Davier Hospital in La Harpe, where she had been a patient since May 1. She had observed her 91st birthday on Sunday, December 8.

She was the daughter of (John) Scott Kimble and Mary (Isabelle) McCreary Kimble. She came to Illinois with her parents at the age of two, and lived in and around Terre Haute her entire lifetime.

On December 14, 1892, she was united in marriage with J. E. Painter in the home of her parents, which is now the home of her son, Ray Painter, in Terre Haute.

To this union were born four children. Two daughters, Mrs. Fay (Ruby) Burkhart and Mrs. V. M. (Blanche) Lovitt, and one son, Ray S. Painter, survive. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Charles E. Painter, and by one sister and one brother. She is survived by 11 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Painter was a member of the Terre Haute M. E. church and was a long-time member of the Terre Haute Thursday Club. She was a staunch supporter of the community and school affairs and enjoyed watching the youngsters play ball and grow into young men and women. She never let her thoughts grow old and she kept her sense of humor until her last illness. She will be missed by a host of friends and neighbors as well as by her family.
