Contributed by Ozarkcheryl - Wilton -- GEORGE B. ADAMS, AGED RESIDENT OF COUNTY DIES - George Bently Adams, aged 95 years, for many years a farmer in Cedar county, died at his home in West Liberty at 11:30 p.m. Saturday after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio, on June 5, 1852, and came to Iowa and Muscatine by boat in September, 1876. For a time he operated a general store in Moscow before farming in Cedar county. He retired in 1930 and moved to West Liberty.
Mr. Adams married Helena Jennings on Sept. 7, 1910, in Muscatine and her death occurred in 1933. A brother also preceded him in death.
Two cousins residing in the west are the only survivors.
Mr. Adams was a member of Wilton lodge No. 167 A.F. & A.M. and held a 50-year-membership since 1944.
The body is at the Griffith funeral home and services will be held there at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. J.M. Newgard, pastor of the Evangelical and Reformed church in charge. Burial will be in Sharon cemetery in Cedar county with the Masonic rites arranged at the grave.
