Knox — Freddie J. Bailey, 88,died June 15, 2010, with his devoted daughter by his side. Freddie was the only son of Fred Bailey and Estelle Howes Bailey Warman. He was born in the town of Knox and resided there all his life.
The last few years of his life, his daughter Joyce, was his caregiver. One thing Freddie really enjoyed during the last months of his life was going for rides. Didn't matter to where, just as long as he was riding and had a bottle of root beer by his side.
Freddie saw a lot of changes in his lifetime — electric lights, the phone, radio, television, cars — such stories he loved to tell to anyone who had the time to sit and listen. We don't think of the history our elderly can share until after they are gone. Visit the elderly and listen to their stories!
He was predeceased by his wife, Violet; a son, Sidney "Sonny" Bailey; three sisters, Ava Cunningham, Avis Sprowl and Julia Elwell; a half-sister, Laura Higgins; and his parents.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Thompson, of Unity; a daughter-in-law, Donna Bailey, of Montville; three grandchildren, Becky Furrow and her husband, Jody, of Freedom, Michael Bailey and his close friend, Kelly, of Knox and Janie Gerrish and her husband, Shane, of Searsmont; seven great-grandchildren, Mariah, Caleb and Faith Furrow, Caylee and Tayven Bailey, Alex and Cole Gerrish; a sister, Sadie Ward, of Searsport; and many nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Freedom. (VillageSoup online 6/15/2010)
