Thomas Phipps, 40, of Abilene passed away June 14, 2010 at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. June 17, 2010 at Mount Marion Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Hall and John Connell officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Thomas Shane Phipps was born May 31, 1970 in Denver City, Texas to parents Danny Lee Phipps and Melinda Ruth Yarbrough. He graduated from Lovington High School in Lovington, N.M. Thomas went on to attend classes at New Mexico State University and graduated in 1993. He worked as a salesman at Ashley Furniture in Abilene. Thomas loved to fish, cook and garden. He will be remembered for his friendly personality.

He was preceded in death by two grandparents, Jake and Nita Yarbrough, and one uncle, Charles Phipps.

Thomas is survived by his parents, Danny Phipps and wife Melinda of Breckenridge; two children, Madison and Allison Phipps, both of Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Jessica Phipps Mathis and husband Wes Mathis of North Richland Hills; one nephew, Carson Mathis; one niece, Emma Mathis; grandparents, J.D. and Helen Phipps of Denver City; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
