Mrs. Alberta Webster, 159 South Bedford Street, and William Gutshall, 19 East South Street, were united in marriage Saturday, August 30, 1952, in the parsonage of St. John Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, Md. Rev. Boyd Hamm performed the ceremony.

The couple will reside at 19 East South Street.

Alberta "Berty" M. Gutshall, 91, formerly of East South Street, Carlisle, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000 at Thornwald Home in Carlisle.

Born April 6, 1909 in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Pearl E. Lau Losch. She was the widow of David H. Webster, who died in 1948, and William G. Gutshall, who died in 1970.

Mrs. Gutshall was the former owner and operator of Webster Grocery Stores on East North and East South streets in Carlisle. She also had worked for Goodwill Industries in Carlisle.

She attended Good Shepherd Community United Methodist Church in Carlisle.

She is survived by two sons, David H. Webster Jr. of Eugene, Ore., and Marlin P. Webster of Carlisle; a daughter, Othila "Sis" W. Grove of Carlisle; two stepdaughters, Marian Beebe of Carlisle and Judy Evans of Pottsville; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, George and Marlin Losch Sr.; and two stepsons, Robert and Richard Gutshall.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. William E. Pipp officiating. Burial will be in LeTort Cemetery in Middlesex Township.

Friends may call Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
