Bill married Frances Lavernia Thieme in 1947. She died 4 Jan 1991.

Bill then married my Mother, Marietta (Funderburk) Peck on 2 Apr 1991 at the Court House in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. She had been widowed twice.

Bill died in his home with his second wife Marietta and the help of Hospice.

Obituary: Bill Benton, 82 years old, passed away Feb. 5, 2008, in Summerfield, Oklahoma a longtime resident, and member of the Heart of the Hills Baptist Church in Summerfield.

Preceded in death by his first wife Frances, his parents, Clyde and Francis Benton; two sisters, Bobbie Louise and Joan Evelyn; and two step-sons, Michael Glenn Peck and Charles Glen Peck.

Survived by his second wife, Mary; seven daughters; one son; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous other relatives, friends and loved ones.

Memorial services Saturday at 10 a.m. at Heart of the Hills Baptist Church. Interment will be at Summerfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Professional Home Hospice, Poteau. Dowden Funeral Home, Heavener, is in charge of arrangements.

Note: He is not buried at Summerfield Cemetery like it says in his obituary. He donated his body to medical research and then his cremated remains were buried next to my Brothers, his step-sons Michael and Charles Peck at Monroe Cemetery.
