Born May 3, 1900, in Delavan to James and Florence Wynd Palmer, he married Violet Kiesewetter on March 16, 1921, in Peoria. She died April 9, 1981.
He also was preceded in death by one son and one grandson.
Surviving are two sons, James R. of Lexington, Ky., and Frank W. of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Netress) McMullen and Mrs. Rudy (Betty) Snyder, both of East Peoria; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was a farmer and later worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1962. He then worked at the Les Sutter Farm Store in Morton for 10 years.
He was a member of Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church in East Peoria and United Auto Workers Local 974.
Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
