Joseph C. Alvey, 78, of Morganfield died at 9:05 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2010. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church was was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He retired from Ferrocraft Corp. in 2002 and GRITS in 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Everrett Alvey; brothers, Robert Paul, Gerald, Harold, J.D. , and Francis 'Spank' Alvey; a sister, Mary Ruth Alvey Pogeman; and a grandson, Matthew Michael Geisser. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Collins Alvey; five daughters, Debbie Alvey and Tricia Alvey, both of Henderson, Cindy VanOrder of Morganfield, Susan Geisser and husband Mike of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Judy Sloan and husband Russell of Paducah; one sister, Martha Mills of Madisonville; one brother, Thomas Alvey and wife Kitty of Corydon, Ind.; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 17 at St. Ann Caholic Church with Fr. Gerald Baker, Fr. Richard Cash, and Fr. Terry Devine officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. till service time on Thursday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery in Morganfield. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice, 203 W.
