Peyton Brooks

Hayes - Peyton L. Brooks, 71, a self-employed building contractor and lifelong resident of Gloucester, died Monday, March 21. Mr. Brooks was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church and American Legion Post 368, Denbigh. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survived by his wife, Catherine D. Brooks; three daughters, Mary Eads of Richmond, Esther Belvin and Karen Carmine of Hayes; two sons, Alvin Brooks of Colonial Beach and Carroll Brooks of Hayes; two sisters, Virgie Conway of Hayes and Elsie West of Gloucester Point; a brother, Willie Brooks of Gloucester Point; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation from 7 to 8 tonight at Hogg Funeral home, Gloucester Point. Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home by Dr. Thomas Gaskins, Burial in Providence Baptist Cemetery, Ordinary. Memorials to Abingdon Volunteer Rescue Squad.
