Tuesday Morning at nine O'clock, Last night Martha was so bad that I started after the Doctor Edmonson and got back at 2 o’clock in the morning and brought the doctor with me. She was so bad all day and Doctor Edmonson was back in the evening. Martha still growing worse at night. Wednesday Morning, August 18 no better. About 2 in the morning we thought she was dying and she was very restless. Edmondson came back to see her about 8 o’clock and then went to Colberts and back and got here about 12. Martha still restless a phew minutes but after 12 she got easy and dide half after 12 on this eighteenth day of August 1841. Thursday Rice and Reece came over and we made a coffin and she was buried the 19th of August 1841.

Years after Martha was buried we find from the diary it was on the 19th of August, and she had died on the 18th. The stone says August 21, 1841. Perhaps there was a weather delay until from the 19th to the 21st and the family forgot the exact time when the stone was put in place.
