Alan D. Andrews, 88 years of age, of East Weymouth passed away at the Brigham & Womens Hospital, Boston on Thursday June 17, 2010. He was born in Scituate and educated in Scituate Schools. He was a Mail Handler for the U.S. Post Office principally at the South Postal Annex in Boston and also at Quincy and Braintree. In his early years he served with Civil Conservation Corps in the West before becoming a member of the Peacetime Army and later a member of the Army during W.W.II. He served in the American Theatre and European Theatre of operations. He served with the 172nd Field Artillery Battalion. He was a member of Clan McGregor in Quincy. He belonged to the Weymouth Senior Citizens and the bowling leagues. He was a former Sunday School Teacher at the East Weymouth Congregational Church. He is the beloved husband of Betty Louise (Langhorst) Andrews and the devoted father of Sara C. Stinson and her husband Timothy Stinson of Holbrook and James Douglas Andrews of East Weymouth. He is survived by his sister Jean Pikul of Virginia. He was the brother of the late Raymond Andrews. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck | Russell Peck Funeral Home 870 Broad Street (opposite the U.S. Post Office in Jackson Square) EAST WEYMOUTH on Sunday, June 20th, at 4:00 P.M. The Reverend Judith Martowska pastor of the East Weymouth Congregational Church will officiate. Visiting hours will precede the funeral service commencing at 2:00 P.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will be at a later date at the Old North Cemetery, North Weymouth. Memorial donations may be sent to the Support System, 394 Libbey Industrial Parkway, Weymouth, MA 02189.
