Mrs. Mildred F. Larzelere, 83 years old, died Thursday March 17, 2005 at her home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Funeral services for Mrs. Larzelere will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at the Colonial Chapel of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home. Dr. Mark Weeter of the Evangelical Methodist Church of Bartlesville, Ok. will preside over the services, with interment to follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
A memorial has been established with the World Mission Fund and those who wish to contribute may do so in lieu of flowers to the Evangelical Methodist Church, Attention: Rhonda Starr, 3rd & Creek, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74003.
Mildred F. Petersen was born in Independence, Missouri, July 19, 1921, the daughter of Arthur Petersen and Alta (Carter) Petersen. She attended school in Kansas City, Kansas. Mildred was raised by her beloved grandparents known affectionately as Momma and Pop. During World War II she worked for American Aviation doing her part for the war effort assembling planes. After the war she met her husband-to-be, a co-worker at Bethany Hospital. Mr. Jack S. Larzelere and Mildred F. (Petersen) Larzelere were united in marriage November 29, 1947 in Kansas City, Kansas. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Lawrence, Kansas so Mr. Larzelere could further his education. Mr. and Mrs. Larzelere moved to Bartlesville in June of 1950 where they made their home and raised their children. Mr. Larzelere worked for National Zinc for many years before his retirement.
Mrs. Larzelere loved her family and friends and she was a devoted caregiver. She was a founding member of The Peoples Church of Bartlesville that later became the Evangelical Methodist Church. The church will be celebrating its 50 th anniversary this fall. Mrs. Larzelere was a dedicated church member and enjoyed being involved in numerous church activities. She was also an accomplished musician and singer often playing church hymns on the family piano and for church services. Mr. and Mrs. Larzelere were devoted to the mission fields and were able to take several mission trips to places around the world including South America, Spain and Haiti. Mr. Larzelere preceded her in death March 29, 1993, and Mrs. Larzelere continued to make her home in Bartlesville.
Mrs. Larzelere is survived by three daughters Shirley Griffin and her husband David of Bartlesville, Elizabeth (Sue) Marler and her husband Joe of Bartlesville, and Connie Larzelere of Howe, Ok., two grandchildren Lenaya Beck and husband Jeff of Bartlesville, and LeeAnn Griffin of Bartlesville, two great grandchildren Hannah and Skyler Beck of Bartlesville, and her special friend Mildred Withers of Kansas City, Kansas. Mrs. Larzelere is preceded in death by her husband Mr. Jack S. Larzelere, her parents Arthur and Alta Petersen, and her grandparents Tommy and Samantha Carter.
