According to Swain County Census Records and his 05 Jun 1918 WWI Draft Registration Card, he was born on 15 Jan 1878. All other census records correspond to that date as well. He would have been born on Forney Creek in Swain County as the family is living their in the 1880 Census. That Census Record also shows Swan as being 7-months old. His NC Death Certificate shows he died at home on 20 Clayton Street in Asheville, Buncombe County, NC. His son, Glenn Woody, who was born in 1928, provided the information for his death certificate. At the time of his death he was married to Cora Elizabeth Johnson. They were married sometime between 1918-1919, probably in Haywood County. When he and Sarah divorced, their 3-children remained with him and he moved to Haywood County where he worked for Champion Fiber Company.
