MIDLAND CITY, AL……….Donald Ray Marshall, a resident of Private Road 1529, Midland City, Alabama, died late Wednesday night, June 16, 2010, in a Dothan hospital. He was 73.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 19, 2010, in the Cedar Grove Baptist Church, near Midland City, with Reverend Benny Cole officiating. Graveside services, with full military rites, will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary in Headland. At other times, the family will be at the family residence.

Mr. Marshall was born and reared in the Cedar Grove Community of Dale County, son of the late Lunie Ray Marshall and Inez Sketo Marshall. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired as a Tech Sergeant after twenty-one years service. After retirement from the military, he attended Wallace Community College where he received certification in Heating, Air Conditioning and Electrician. Mr. Marshall was also retired from the City of Dothan as a Service Writer after seventeen years employment and was formerly employed by Blount Office Supply in Dothan. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frankie Marshall and his first wife, Betty Sanders Marshall.
Surviving relatives include his wife of forty-one years, Hazel Roney Marshall; a daughter, Charlotte Marshall Ballard and husband, Jon Ballard; a son, Chris Marshall, all of Midland City, AL; several grandchildren; six sisters, Nina Beadore, Midland City; Judy Griggs and husband, Bill Griggs, Ozark, AL; Evelyn White and husband, Rick White, Columbus, GA; Betty Alverson and husband, Leonard Alverson, Midland City; Barbara Green and husband, Joe Green, Riverdale, GA; and Joyce Douglas and husband, Ken Douglas, Cape Coral, FL; two brothers, Charlie Marshall and wife, Helen Marshall, Tampa, FL; and Ronald Marshall and wife, Linda Marshall, Midland City; numerous nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Peacock and husband, Billy Peacock, Slocomb, AL; brother-in-law, Ronald Roney and wife, Lelia Roney, Jacksonville, FL; a son and daughter from his first marriage.
