Ralph was born to Claude and Nellie (Hughes) Dalby at their farm home north of Arcadia.
He attended rural school at Pleasant Valley Dist. 19 and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1930. He was baptized at the First Congregational Church in October 1926. After graduation he farmed and then served as a Sargent in the U.S. Army. He was located at camps in New York, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Washington. He also served at the Pacific headquarters in South America where he was a cook. After being discharged from the service he returned to Pennsylvania where he worked at the Maier's Sunbeam Bakery where he worked for 29 years and then retired in 1974.
On July 21, 1964 he married Catherine Hoch McKenna. They resided in Reading, PA.
