CDR. HUGH GODSEY
Hugh (Dixie) Godsey, 64, of Gwynn and Boca Raton, Fla., died on Monday, December 8, 1972, in a Newport News hospital.
A native of Mathews, he was retired from the U.S. Navy where he served as a commander during World War II and in Korea. He received a number of citations including two Legions of Merit.
Mr. Godsey was a member of the Gwynn's Island Baptist Church, the Bowmi Temple in Baltimore, and Salisbury Lodge No. 91 of the Scottish Rites.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Anny K. Godsey; and one sister, Mrs. Ethel G. Deagle of Gwynn.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, conducted by the Rev. Julian S. Orrell, pastor of the Gwynn's Island Baptist Church. Burial was in the Gwynn's Island Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Sleet Godsey, Dick Godsey, Bud Godsey, Rodney Adams, Logan Gay and William Godsey.
