Janssen Services Set For Thursday, Methodist Church

Services for J.T. Janssen will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Methodist church, with Rev. Roy Rowlan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Carnegie cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Pitcher funeral home.

Janssen died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home, 118 North Colorado, after an illness of two months.

John Thomas Janssen was born March 16, 1876, at Nebraska City, Neb. and spent his early life in that state. He was married to Minnie Fisher March 17, 1897. In 1901 with his wife and one child he came by covered wagon to Oklahoma, locating near Pocasset. In 1927 he moved to Tuttle where he farmed until 1939 when he moved to a farm northeast of Carnegie. He moved to Carnegie in 1944. Mrs. Janssen died Jan. 15, 1945.

He was married to Mrs. Anna Anderson of Fort Worth Jan. 11, 1947. In 1927 he was converted and joined the Methodist church at Tuttle. Later he transferred his membership to Carnegie. For many years he was a member of the Modern Woodmen.

Survivors besides the wife include four daughters, Mrs. George Graham, Miss Marie Janssen, Mrs. Margaret Cavett and Mrs. Frances Dake, all living in the state; five sons, Ted, Clifford, Clyde and Earl, in Oklahoma, and John in California; one brother, William, Yukon, and three stepsons, Homer Anderson, in California, and W.J. and Roland Anderson, in Texas. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

The sons and daughters have visited their father at intervals during his illness and have remained several days at a time to care for him.
