"Dea. William Balcom, of Reading, Michigan, was born in Ontario Co. N.Y., in 1836. He has been for thirty years active in Sabbath-school work and is President of the Sunday-school Union of the Hillsdale Quarterly Meeting (Q.M.) His devotion to the interests of the church is widely known.

In 1857 he was married to Adelaide E. Ransome, and their two children are helpers in the church."
