Emigrated to Utah from Scotland in 1855 as a 10 year old boy with his parents,William McFarland (1795-1890) and Margaret McCormick McFarland (1804-1886), and his three brothers and one sister. Married first to Mahala Jane Wilson (1844-1885). After her death, married Josephine Mattson (1869-1959). Farmed in West Weber. Was one of the framers of the Utah State constitution.
