Mary Louise Messer, 81, Topeka, died Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.
She was born Feb. 27, 1926 in Topeka, the daughter of Elmer L. and Anna Marie Boettcher Knapp.
Mrs. Messer worked as a bookkeeper for Sunflower Rentals, Holton Transport, and Lydiona's Childrens Wear.
She later was a tax preparer for H&R Block for 20 years before retiring.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Topeka, Ks.
She married Donald E, Messer on Oct. 12, 1946 in Lawrence, Ks. He died Nov. 9, 1993.
Survivors include a son, Donald S. Messer and wife, Renee of Topeka; two daughters, Jan Messer Pribble and husband, John of Jacksonville, FL. and Karen Messer Becker and husband, Tom of Millbrook, Alabama. She so loved her eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Hope Chapel with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Messer will lie in state after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m.
