There is a private burial ground on the property. Herbert's will made provision for a square rod of land in back of the house, to be kept for that purpose. According to the anecdotal accounts of living descendants, this is the last resting place for the Apgar patriarch (Fritz), his wife (Anna Eva Schaefer), and his son, Herbert. Apgar Association has done non invasive xrays that determaned there could be as many as 5-7 graves there.

The following order of children born to Fritz Epgert and his wives as determined by German church records, ages of their children and presumed children, and grandchildren, dates of property acquisitions, and Hunterdon County church records. The exact birthdates of Herbert, Hans Peter, Heinrich, Jacob, William, Frederick, and Conrad are known and it is believed that George was perhaps the youngest.

According to church records at Puderbach, Johannes Herbertus Ebgert, known as "Herbert" was born 28 December 1732 in Puderbach, Neuwied, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany to Friedrich Apger and Julianna Haag. He was christened at the Church at Puderbach on 4 January 1733. Sponsors were Johann Herbert Braunoehler of Niederdreis and Pauls Egbert (Fritz's brother) Anna Gertrudea Schmidtin of Muscheid and Anna Gertruda Haagin (sister of Anna Julianna) of Neiderdreis.

Herbert was the second child to bear that name, as his elder bother, Johannes Herbertus Ebgert (1731-1732), was born in 1731 and died at five months old, according to the Puderbach church records. [2]
