Opal Loraine Hahn was born in Llano, Texas, on December 1, 1922, the daughter of Frank and Vyna Drace. Opal had one brother Frank Drace and one sister Mary Ellen Drace. In her adolescent years her family relocated to Apache Creek, New Mexico, as her father obtained work at the NH Ranch. Opal married Thomas Waite "T.W." Milligan. Together, Opal and T.W. continued to make their home in Apache Creek, New Mexico, as he was employed with the U.S. Forest Service as a fire lookout. They were blessed with a son, Burnard and then a daughter, Verna. T.W. went into the United States Army to help support the efforts abroad during World War II. Opal relocated with her children to Morenci, Arizona where she worked for the Phelps Dodge Mining Corporation Mercantile, then moving to Deming, New Mexico before returning to the ranch in Reserve, New Mexico upon T.W.'s return from service. T.W. and Opal divorced, and Opal moved back to Morenci, where she worked for the Phelps Dodge Mining Corporation Mercantile. She later married Delbert Menges and was blessed with the addition of another child Carolyn in 1948. She continued to work hard to support family, devoting much of her time to providing for them. Delbert and Opal divorced in 1966. Opal worked in Safford, Arizona as a waitress, where she met and married Guy Lee Riley. She and Lee made their residences in various locations in Arizona, as he was working in construction. They retired and mostly resided in Globe and Safford, Arizona, moving to Catalina Arizona in 1995. In 1997, Lee passed away. Soon thereafter, Opal moved back to Safford, Arizona were she met and married Donald Hahn and continued to live in Safford, Arizona until Don passed away in 2008. Opal moved from Safford, Arizona to Mesa, Arizona at this time till the last few months of her life when she moved to Tucson, Arizona to be with her daughter Verna. Opal enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and could often be found listening to country music while she crotched with her companion, Mitzi, by her side. In the past few months, she reveled in spending time with her dear friend, Peter Albero, as they would sit and visit with one another about years gone by.
