Frances was the daughter of George Albert and Frances (Mallory) Batte. She married Everette Linwood Foil in 1934 and they were the parents of two daughters: Frances and Elizabeth Batte.

Frances Batte Foil The funeral will be Saturday for Frances Mallory Batte Foil, 91, formerly of 1530 Arbor Drive, who died Thursday (Jan. 25, 2001) at Genesis Health Care Center.
Born Dec. 5, 1909, in Charlotte, Mrs. Foil, a daughter of the late George Albert and Frances Mallory Batte, was a 1926 graduate of Concord High School and a 1930 graduate of the University of North Carolina in Greensboro.
She taught for a year at Davenport College, a Methodist college in Lenoir that later merged with Greensboro College. In 1931, she came to Catawba College, where she was director of physical education for women for six years.
A member of First United Methodist Church, she served on the altar guild for three years and as chairman for one year. She was a member of the Literary Guild Book Club, and a trustee of Rowan Museum for a number of years. She was overall chairman of the annual antique show sponsored by the museum.
Her husband, Everett Linwood Foil, whom she married July 22, 1934, died Feb. 22, 2000.
Survivors include daughters Frances Tatum, Salisbury, and Elizabeth Carter, Concord; brother George A. Batte, Concord; sister Virginia Phillips, Winston-Salem; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 3 p.m. Saturday, Chestnut Hill Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Griffis, pastor, First United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Jim Foil, retired Presbyterian minister.
Visitation: After the service at the home of daughter Frances Tatum, 223 N. McCoy Road.
