John was born in Smechne, Austria-Hungary Galicia to Mr. & Mrs. Stephen Bugel in 1888. He came to New York City in 1901, settling in Alden Station, Newport Township where he resided at 105 Prospect Hill. Later he built a home for his growing family at 98 Newport Ave, Alden Station, Newport Township.
He was a charter member of Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church, Alden and active in the church. He was also a member of the Russian Brotherhood Lodge 205, Alden.
Mr. Bugel was a minor with the Alden Coal Company for 47 years, retiring 9 years ago.
He is survived by his wife Anastasia (Elizabeth) (Hudak) Bugel.
Mr. & Mrs. Bugel would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on 20 June.
Surviving are his children: Anna (Vladimir) Konstantinovich of Wilkes-Barre; Andrew (Martha) of Pottstown; Nicholas (Mary) of Niagara Falls, NY; John (Theresa) of New Cumberland; Mary (Roger) Parry of Whippany, NJ; Michael (Helen) of San Francisco, CA. Funeral will be held Saturday at 9am from the Mary Kievitz Funeral Parlor, 163 East Broad Street, Nanticoke. Then at 9:30 am at Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church, Alden. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
