Nicholas J Bugel, Electrical Engineer and World War II veteran.

Nicholas J. Bugel, of Niagara Falls, entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 28th at his home while under the care of Niagara Hospice. He was 90.

Born 9 December 1914 in Alden Station, Newport Township, Luzerne County, Pa. to John and Anastazia (Hudak) Bugel.

He attended schools in Alden and later taught classes in first aid of the injured under the auspices of the Nanticoke-Newport Branch, American Red Cross. Then he went to work at Westinghouse in New Jersey for a couple of years before entering the Army in 1944. While in the Army, he served in Rhineland and Central Europe. He received two Bronze Stars. After he was discharged in 1946, he returned to college in Scranton, Pa and received a degree in engineering.
Mr. Bugel came to Niagara Falls in 1950 and worked at Bell Aerospace, retiring in 1977 as an electrical engineer. Mr. Bugel was an active member of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, where he was past president, treasurer and secretary of the Parish Council, and was a handyman around the church.
He was a life member of VFW Post 917 and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Konsevitch), whom he married in 1951; a son, Nicholas of Niagara Falls; two daughters, Maryanne Bugel of Niagara Falls and Lisa (Dr. Charles) Olick of Pendleton; a brother, Michael of San Francisco; and three grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Andrew and John. Sisters, Anna Konstantinovich and Mary Parry.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 3290 Pine Ave. Burial in Riverdale Cemetery in Lewiston, with military honors, will follow the service.
