PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL DENNEYS IN THIS LINE KEPT THE SPELLING AS "DENNY"

Buried Surry County, NC (Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery) (Old Denny Cemetery). There is controversy also on the burial spot. The previous description is from William Denney, Pg 11 of Sylvester Denny's book says he was buried on a knoll overlooking the Ararat River, on their farm near the road about 1/2 mile southwest of Cedar Hill Church!

STRANGE FACT: None of his seven daughters ever married!

Much of the pertinent information for Azariah Denny line came from Sylvester Denny's book, "Genealogy of the Family of Azariah Martin Denny".

Tombstone on his grave reflects death date as Oct 11, 1878 which conflicts with other data. Description of Azariah in Sylvester Denny's Book (Pg 11) also gives a third possible date of death as Oct 14, 1878.

A Butch Johnson visited and recorded graves in a cemetery that he calls the Azariah Denny Cemetery. I think he refers to the old Denny Cemetery, thus in the future, all references to either of these will mean the same cemetery.

It is believed that Azariah donated the land to build the Ceder Hill Baptist Church as the land was once his.
LAND ACQUISITION
Azariah purchased land from Timothy Coe in 1816, added a grant of 23 acres adjoining his other property from the state of North Carolina in 1826, two deeds in 1822 covering 175 acres of land from his widowed mother, Rebecca Denny, and his four sisters and his brother Lazarus. Also, there were deeds in 1832 for 118 acres from Josiah Van Du Pool and in 1835 for 50 acres from Nathan Harris.

edit suggestion rec'd 10/7/2017 from B.Carter a wonderful NC Findagraver...very very knowledgeable! :

On the initial part of the description showing buried at Ararat Cedar Hills, that is incorrect since I surveyed both that cemetery and the one you have shown, which is correct. The description of the cemetery is accurate since it does overlook the Ararat River. See my notes and survey data at this link:

In your reference note about possibly being buried at the family cemetery overlooking the Yadkin River, that would be this cemetery - 2359405
