SOONER DIES IN VIET NAM James Bailey Killed in Guerilla Action

Army S-Sgt James Edwin Bailey 36 of Bartlesville was killed Friday as the result of action by Vietnamese guerillas. He was crew chief aboard a helicopter on a combat support liaison mission preparing to land when hit by small arms ground fire.
The body is being returned to Bartlesville. Military rites will be accorded him here and funeral services will be held in Bartlesville's Memorial Park Cemetery.
A native of Clarksville Ark he moved with his family to Cherryvale, Kansas during his childhood and lived there five years prior to coming to Bartlesville. He attended school here.
He and the former Nancy Elizabeth Wright were married in Bartlesville in February 1951. He joined the Army in 1946, Following three years service in Germany he was discharged and returned to Bartlesville where he was employed as secretary at Woolaroc Lodge.
In 1950 he re-entered the Army. After 16 months in Japan he was returned to the US and was stationed at Fort Sill. In November 1954 he joined the US Postal Service in Bartlesville until enlisting in the armed forces again in 1956
