Ruth M. Atwell, 84, of 403 Winton St., Syracuse, died Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. She was born in Rome. She retired in 1984 as secretary for First English Lutheran Church and previously worked at Bertha's Beauty Shop and taught at Syracuse School of Beauty Culture. She and her husband owned the Ramona Hotel and Cottages, Fourth Lake. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, where she formerly taught Sunday school and interreligious classes. She was a member and former president and treasurer of Lutheran Christian Women. Her husband, Ralph E., died in 1973.
Survivors: A son, James C. of Tehachapi, Calif.; a sister, Helen Schmitt of Syracuse. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday in First English Lutheran Church. Burial, Woodlawn Cemetery.
