Herman D. Briggs, son of Geo. Briggs of Clay Center and Mrs. Pearl Young, daughter of S. McKelvie and wife of Lincoln were married in the later city on Thursday, Feb. 18.

Graveside services for Herman D. Briggs, 74, former resident of the Clay Center community were held Monday afternoon, June 2nd, at the Fairfield cemetery (sic) with Mr. Keith Purscell of the Clay Center Christian Church officiating.

Mr. Briggs died May 29, 1958 at St. Lukes Hospital, Denver, Colo. He had been in falling health for several years and was confined to the hospital following a heart attack.

The son of George and Lydia Briggs, Herman D. Briggs was born April 17, 1884 at Clay Center, Neb. He grew to manhood in the community and was baptized into the Clay Center Christian Church.

On Feb. 18, 1909, he was united In marriage to Pearl McKelvle Young and they farmed near Clay Center until 1916 when they moved to Bosler, Wyo. To this union were born four children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl, in March of 1917. He was married to Lucile Wisner June 8, 1922. In 1924 the family moved to Denver, Colo., in 1938 where Mr. Briggs retired.

He is survived by his wife, Lucile and four children. Ward of Lakewood, Colo., Harold of Clay Center, Mrs. Wayne Beach of Aurora, Nebr., and Mrs. Don McNiell of Lakewood, Colo., also ten grandchildren and four brothers.
