Birth: 4th of five known children, Newark, Licking county, Ohio, stone has 1869, 1900 census has 1871, which seems correct (?).

Census: 1880, age 8 Newark, Licking county, Ohio with mother & four siblings.

Removed from Newark, Ohio to Carthage, Missouri around 1882.

Census: 1900, age 28 Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri with wife, his partner one son on 820 Grant street, a druggist.

"Billie" Blake Sells Out and Will Leave Carthage.


W. D. Blake yesterday sold his interest in the Wells drug store to D. G. Wells, who owned the major interest in the company, and as soon as an invoice is finished he will leave for a visit at his old home in Cincinnati. Mr. Blake has been in business here a number of years, and his many friends will regret to learn that he anticipates leaving Carthage. He has several plans under consideration, however, and is not yet ready to announce what other business location he will select. The firm name will continue as the Wells Drug Co., with D. G.
