Sylvia W. Tinney-Brickert, 102, of Coeur d'Alene, passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006. Sylvia was born Dec. 12, 1903, in Waverly, Wash. to Allen H. Read and Ada K. (Rhodes) Read. Sylvia came to Coeur d'Alene in 1940 from Worley. The oldest of five kids, she raised her siblings after the death of her parents. Sylvia was a longtime member of the Eagles and enjoyed gardening. She was a great cook, an avid sports fan and a great dancer. The last 10 years of her life have been spent with the caring staff of Loyalton.
Sylvia is survived by sister Geri (Ivy Marguerita "Geri" READ) Shields of Ventura, Calif.; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her previous husbands; son Allen Tinney; daughter Eloise Fischbach.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens, 7315 N. Government Way, Coeur d'Alene.
