Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Progress, June 4, 1873, p. 3.

Died--In Bloomington, on Sunday, May 31st, of Inflammation of the Lungs, Mrs. Samuel Bonsall, aged 85 years.
-----
BONSALL, (Mrs.) Sarah (Pflatford [sic])
The wife of Samuel Bonsall. Died on sun. May 31, 1873 in Bloomington. Age 85 (This is incorrect; probably a transposition error on the part of the typesetter. He probably intended 58, but the result was 85.) Cause of death: Inflammation of the lungs.
Bloomington Progress, June 4, 1873.
Newspaper Archives, I.U. Library.

[Note: Mrs. Bonsall's first name was not given in the death notice. First name was taken from tombstone inscription in Rose Hill Cemetery 1821-1976, p. 33, published by the Monroe Co. Genealogical Society: Sarah Pflatford Bonsall, b. 3-20-1814, d. 5-30-1873. (Another discrepancy -- death date in death notice does not agree with tombstone.) Also two other members of this Bonsall family buried on this same lot in Rose Hill, however, neither are Samuel, the husband of Sarah. From Monroe Co. Marriage Records: Samuel W. Bonsall to Sarah Flatford on June 23, 1836.]
