OAKLAND, Md. - Sara Katherine (Fredlock) Donley, age 70, of Pergin Farm Rd., Oakland, Md., died at her home on Thursday, March 10, 2005, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Cumberland on August 25, 1934, and was the daughter of the late W. Harold Fredlock and Katherine (Bissett) Fredlock.

Sara was an active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Oakland where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. She was a 1952 graduate of St. Peter's High School in Westernport and was a member of the first graduating class of Bon Secours Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore in 1955. She also attended St. Anselm's College in New Hampshire. During her career she worked as the Director of Nursing at Bon Secours Hospitals in Baltimore and Methuen, Mass. She also worked for the Christian Appalachian Program in eastern Kentucky. She was very active in Garrett County, where she worked for the Health Department and the Hospice

Programs. She spent several years teaching Prepared Childbirth Classes and served as a nurse midwife on many home deliveries in both Kentucky and Garrett County. She had a love for dancing and taught clogging classes in Oakland and in Leesburg, Fla.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 24 years, Daniel Donley and his sons, Danny Donley and wife Sylvia of Oakland and Chris Donley, wife Nancy and their daughter Catherine of Huntingtown, Md. She is also survived by her brother, William H. Fredlock III and wife Sandy of Swanton, Md., and her nephews and niece, W.H. Fredlock IV, M. Sean Fredlock, J. Chris Fredlock and wife Sherri, and Julie Kay Fredlock; and her great-nephews and nieces, Michael, Taylor, Will, and Jocelyn Fredlock.

Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and at St. Peter's Church in Oakland on Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the church at noon with Father Don Parson as celebrant. He will be assisted by Monsignors Rick Woy and Paul Byrnes and Father Adam Parker. A bereavement dinner for family and friends will be held after the Mass at St. Peter's Social Hall. Private interment in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Garrett Co. Hospice Program, P.O Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550 or to the Stained Glass Window Fund at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 135 Church St., Westernport, MD 21562.
