Joseph C. Navarro, 88, of Lecanto, Florida, died on Saturday, June 19, 2010. He was born in Altus, Oklahoma, on Friday, March 10, 1922, to Juan and Bartola (Contreras) Navarro. Mr. Navarro retired after 25 years as a bottler for a brewing company in Chicago, Illinois. He was on the executive board for the beer bottlers union local #248 and the joint executive boards for locals #18, #121 and #248. He moved to this area 20 years ago from Romeoville, Illinois.
Joseph served in the South Pacific with the U.S. Army and was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Navarro, on March 14, 2010.
Survivors include his sons, Joseph Navarro Jr. and Richard Navarro and wife Vicki, all of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Raymond Navarro and wife Joanne of Joilet, Illinois; daughters, Dolores Moyer and husband Edward of Beverly Hills, Florida, Emily Navarro of Arvada, Colorado, and Judy Cassidy of Ashtabula, Ohio; brother, John Navarro of Tinley Park, Illinois; sisters, Tillie Neerose and Teresa Galvin, both of Chicago, Illinois, and Lupe Torres and husband Frank of Cresthill, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. to noon with a chapel service following at Fero Funeral Home. Interment service 2:00 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery.
