Former Toulon Man Passes in Nebraska

Funeral services were held recently at Hastings, Nebraska, for William M. Lowman, former Toulon resident many years ago, who for many years had been a successful business man and civic leader in Hastings. Mr. Lowman died Sunday afternoon, March 29 [1942], at his home in Hastings.

He had been in failing health for several months and his condition had been serious since suffering a heart attack two weeks before his death while visiting a daughter at Blue Hill, Nebraska.

Mr. Lowman was born in Toulon but went west many years ago and in 1878 entered the real estate business in Hastings with his father, Davis Lowman, and had continued in the business without interruption ever since. He remained active in the work until quite recently.

Besides his real estate business, he had many other interests and at different time during his life had served as director of three banks and had been president of one and vice president of another. He was a leader in the civic life of the city and an active member of commercial clubs and the Chamber of Commerce.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Florence Lowman, of Hastings; a daughter, Mrs. Vera McCleery, of Blue Hill, Nebraska, and two grandchildren.
