Katherine (Katie) Belen Marsh was granted her angel wings on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the age of 12. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends whom Katie had touched in a special way, throughout her short, yet very memorable life.

Katie was born on April 3, 1998 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Leigh and Scott Marsh.

At age 12, Katie was a vibrant young girl. Family and friends describe her as inquisitive, intelligent, talented, and she possessed a wonderful sense of humor. Her beautiful spirit and personality were such that she touched countless lives. She truly loved her many friends at school, all the members of the Corpus Christi Cathedral Choristers, and her tight knit group known as 'The Elementals' who competed in Destination Imagination.

She was an avid, voracious reader. As a student of Windsor Park Elementary, she read almost every book in the school library. She was excited to make the transition to Baker Middle School, for it housed a new library for Katie to begin new reading adventures. Katie often had a book in her hand, a new question to ask, a kind smile to offer.

Although she was taken from us too soon, we are at peace knowing she is in a better place and we will join her one day soon. Katie leaves an impact on our lives and hearts, and will continue to live on through others. As her parents made the selfless decision to participate in 'Donate for Life' at Driscoll Children's Hospital. Katie's organs will give others the gift of life, and also grants us a sense of peace and joy for the families she will touch. We want to express a special thank you to the PICU staff at Driscoll Children's Hospital, who provided exceptional care, support and love in our time of need.

Katie is survived by her loving parents, Leigh and Scott Marsh, two younger siblings Sarah 10 and Henry 7, her grandparents William and Virginia Marsh, Servando and Irma Caballero, Abelardo and Shere Salinas, her great grandmother Beverly Dwyer and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will be receiving friends at the Corpus Christi Firefighter Association Union Hall from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010 for a celebration of Katie's life, 6014 Ayers, Corpus Christi, Texas.

Funeral Services will be celebrated at the Corpus Christi Cathedral at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010 with interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers family and friends have set up the Katie Marsh Fund: 3636 S. Alameda Ste B-199, Corpus Christi, Texas 78411
