Obituary:

Monday morning, August 16, there passed from our midst an old citizen of the Hemet and San Jacinto valleys.

George Harrison Richmond was born in 1842, and a member of a family of ten children. When a child, they moved to Wisconsin. His early manhood was spent in Iowa, where he married Eldora Lane. Four children, two boys and two girls, were born to this union. The two surviving, Miss Clara Richmond and Miss N.J. Ofstad, are left to mourn his loss.
In 1882 they moved to San Bernadino county, Calif. and in 1889 to the Hemet valley. For many years Mr. Richmond was assessor of the Diamond Valley district.

Since the death of Mrs. Richmond December 1916, Mr. Richmond has been very frail. Always cheerful and patient through it all, he endeared himself the last six weeks, especially to the many friends who called and ministered in every way to him. Though often in much pain his active mind was clear to the end, and with thoughtful forethought he planned every detail that would make his going easier for the bereaved ones.

His deathbed was a benediction. The glory of heaven shown upon his face as he peacefully slipped away to meet his savior face to face and greet his loved ones.

Services at the house and cemetery were in charge of Rev. F. A. Leak, assisted by Rev. Bear, both of whom in loving tenderness were a comfort to friends and relatives. By his friends "Brother Richmond" was characterized as tender in his love and honest and conscientious--A friend who will be missed.
