Harry J. Barnes
Berlin - Harry J. Barnes. 62 of E. Huron St., owner of Culligan Soft Water Service here, died at 1:30 this morning at Berlin Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for several years. Son of James and Elizabeth Barnes a pioneer family of Oshkosh he was born Aug. 6, 1897, attended Oshkosh public schools, and operated a grocery store and a root beer stand here before moving to Berlin in 1947. He had been a member of Plymouth Congregational Church at Oshkosh. He married Lois Werthman on Jan. 15. 1945, following the death of his first wife. Ella Service. In 1943. Survivors his wife: a daughter, Mrs. Donald Hintzman, Green Bay; sons Ronald, Oshkosh. Howard, Racine and Richard, St. Paul. Minn.: stepsons Robert and James Werthman. Milwaukee, and Thomas Werthman Menominee Falls: sisters Mrs. George Fitzgerald and Mrs. Eva Phillips. Both of Oshkosh, and nine grandchildren.
The Rev. Stanley York pastor of Union Congregational Church will officiate at the 2 p.m. services Sunday at Wiecki Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Oshkosh. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Saturday noon.
