J. M. Gwin, retired building contractor, was buried here Tuesday, following his death in a local hospital Sunday. He had retired about four years ago because of ill health.

Mr. Gwin was born in Richland Parish Parish, near Rayville, September 19, 1882, and had lived in Winnfield since 1906. He was married to the former Linnie Martindale of Lufkin, Texas.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, of the bricklayers union, and the Winn Parish Sportsmen's Club.

Funeral services were held in the Winnfield Methodist Church with Rev. P. M. Caraway, Dr. W. L. Holcomb, and Rev. Alwin Stokes officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery.

He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Gwin, prominent residents of Winnfield. Survivors are his wife, two daughters, Ms. H. S. Glover of Stutgart [sic Stuttgart], Ark., and Mrs. J. O. Dockins of Dacca, Pakistan; one son, Malcolm M. Gwin of Cleburne, Texas; two grandchildren, John Gwin Glover and Connie Sue Glover; one sister, Mrs. Mack Branch of Winnfield; one brother, D. J. Gwin of Union Springs, Ala.; and his stepmother, Mrs. A. J. Gwin of Winnfield.

Pallbearers were Louis Sholars, Bryant Sholars, Tracy Harrel, Coy Miller, Jim Madden, and Earl Applewhite.

Out of town relatives attending were Mr. Carl Earl and daughter of Rayville, Mrs. Tom Burke of Liberty, Miss.
