John L. "Jack" Kelch, 78, of East Peoria, formerly of Morton, passed away Friday, June 18, 2010, at his home.

He was born Jan. 9, 1932, in Peoria to Anthony William and Catherine Cecelia (Gardner) Kelch. He was married to Imelda Giltner but then married Margaret Ruth on Dec. 14, 1973.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Kelch of East Peoria; one son, Thomas (Shelley) Kelch of Washington; five daughters, Andrea (Michael) Gallagher of Edwards, Melanie (David) Althaus of Gallipolis, Ohio, Julie (Gary) Seibold of Metamora, Sherryl (Aaron) Kelch-Seaman of Morton and Pegi Kelch of East Peoria; one stepdaughter, Maura Minton of Morton; one sister, Teresa Walker; and one brother, Edward Kelch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

A veteran of the Navy, Jack worked at Hiram Walker & Sons Distillery in Peoria for 31 years, retiring in 1981. He later worked at Weinsteins, which became TNT Sports Bar & Grill in East Peoria.

He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Jude Council in Peoria.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton, where military graveside services will be conducted.
