Lewis Patrick Clark was the son of Wilkerson Clark and Harriet Oglesby. According to the family bible he was born 1 January 1851, in Sumter Co., Georgia and died 30 March 1921. He was the Tax Receiver in the year 1915 in Macon Co., Georgia.
His first wife, and the mother of his 4 daughters, was Ada M. Easterlin(g) the daughter of James Bennett Easterlin(g) and Easter Lewis. Ada's burial place is not known at this writing (May 19, 2013). According to a family bible, she was born either 25 or 26 November 1856 and died 28 August 1893, at home in Ellaville, Schley Co., Georgia. She is the granddaughter of Revolutionary War soldier,James Easterling,sr.
His second wife is buried beside him, Eliza Driver. They married 21 February 1894 in Schley Co., Georgia. They had no children.
His third wife, Nannie (Mammie) Thorton, married 17 May 1915, in Terrell Co., Georgia. They had no children.
His obituary was in the Macon County Citizen, on Friday, April 8, 1921. "Mr. Clark was 71 years old, having been born and raised in Sumter county. In early manhood he worked as railroad section foreman, giving perfect satisfaction in this work. Later he farmed some, and the last sixteen years of his life was spent as tax receiver in Macon county. In this capacity he became well known to Macon county. His popularity among his fellow citizens was shown here, as they kept him on office successively sixteen years. in the last election he did not offer for reelection. He retired of his accord, something a little unusual for an office holder.
Mr. Clark was a member of the Masonic order for 50 years. In this he was true to his vows, punctual in his attendance on the meetings of the lodge, an loved by his brethren....He leaves a wife, Mrs. J.J. Clark, and four daughter, Mrs. B.B. DeLoach, of Oglethorpe, Mrs. J.H. DeLoach, of Abbeville, Mrs. J.A. Wilson, of Bainbridge, and Mrs. D.D. Mitchell, of Oglethorpe. Tow brothers and two sisters mourn his loss."
