Mr. Gene Arthur Stafford, age 76, of Oglethorpe, Ga. died Thursday, April 28, 1983 in Magnolia Manor Nursing Center, Americus, Ga. Funeral services were held at 10:30 am Saturday, April 30, in the Oglethorpe Baptist Church with burial in Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Deakins officiated.

Mr. Stafford, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stafford, was born October 27, 1906 in Murray County, Georgia. He resided in Oglethorpe most of his life, was a retired lumberman and a member and lifetime deacon of Oglethorpe Baptist Church.

Survivors are two sons, Morris E.[Buck]Stafford of Oglethorpe, Gary D. Stafford of Unadilla; one daughter, Mrs. Shirley S. Martin of Oglethorpe; five brothers, Carl Stafford, Leonard Stafford, Robert Stafford and Charlie Stafford all of Oglethorpe. Luke Stafford of Marshallville, one sister, Mrs. Jinevelyn Poole of Ideal, seven grandchildren.
