VETERAN OF WORLD WAR IIOBITUARY OF ROLAND DORIUS ADAMS

Roland Dorius ADAMS, 57, educator in the South Sanpete School District, died April 21, 1984 while camping with his family in Juab County.

Roland began his teaching career in 1956 in Centerville and in 1957 he began teaching in the South Sanpete School District. Roland loved children and loved watching them learn and grow. He made learning fun and his students reaped the benefits of his ability. He also taught at Snow College.

Educated in the Ephraim schools and graduated from Snow High. He was a graduate of Snow College and held a degree in business and one in education from BYU.

As a young man he worked in the family flour and feed mill; he also worked in the family farm and turkey business. Roland took great pride in learning new things and was not afraid of hard work. He served in the Navy during World War II.

Roland was devoted to the scouting program in the Ephraim area. He and his wife Enid, organized the first cub scouting program in Ephraim. Roland was scoutmaster in the Ephraim West Ward for many years. He helped many young men grown and develop from the benefits of the scouting program.

Roland loved being with his family and friends camping, hunting and fishing, golfing, skiing and other sports. He loved the out-of-doors and wanted to share those things with everyone around him. He was happiest when he was with the people he loved and he loved everyone he met.

Active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many positions and was a high priest in the Ephraim First Ward and was presently serving as Sunday School president. He also took an active part in educational organizations, community service clubs and his political party.

Born April 06, 1927 in Ephraim, Utah to Roland P. and Inez Dorius ADAMS.

He married Enid PRITCHETT in the Manti LDS Temple on June 15, 1949.

Survivors include his wife of Ephraim; two sons, Thomas R. of Ephraim, Richard Don of Manti, and two daughters, Mrs. Robert (DeAnn) WHITING and Mrs. Jerry (Janet) McLEOD, both of Springville; mother, Inez HERMANSEN, Salt Lake City; brothers, Merrill HERMANSEN, Orem; Charles HERMANSEN, Salt Lake; David HERMANSEN, Anchorage, Alaska, and a sister, Mrs. Glen D. (Ruth) JORGENSEN, Mount Pleasant; eleven grandchildren, one preceded him in death.

Funeral Services were held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Ephraim First LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Ephraim Park Cemetery with military honors.
