As a young man he used to work on a Ranch on the west side of the Tetons for his Uncle. They
took pack trip into the wilderness or hunters and tourists. He told me about tracking a bear for a hunter to shoot. When they found the bear
it stood up on its hind feet and roarded at them. Everyone in the hunting party was yelling shoot shoot!
The "Dude hunter" became over whelmed while aiming and just past out and fell over backwards so Delmar had to shoot the bear for him.
Delmar helped his brother Remo farm and worked with his brother Marley in heavy equipment. They worked down by Escalante building road.He
used to bring us beautiful
red rocks and petrified wood from there
that Letah (his sister)
would put in her flower bed.
Uncle Delmar showed me a picture of his girl friend, "she
died of pneumonia, long ago. And that was the reason I never married" he told me.
He was my closest uncle, he used to take us for rides in a cute little red sports car he had. Later he would let my sisters Connie & Karma drive it. He'd put the top down and we'd be gone. The first time I ever went to 9 mile he took us. Or he'd come get us just to buy us Ice cream in Roosevelt. In his later years, he and Howard Crapo and my uncle Ed Hullinger used to love to fish. They were very skilled at it to.
He was the kindest soul to this day, I have ever met.
