Dr. William Kirk Allen, 87, of High Point, NC, Pastor Emeritus of First Presbyterian Church in High Point, died Monday, September 3, 2007, at River Landing, NC. He was born in Greenville, SC, May 2, 1920, the son of William Kirk ALLEN and Katherine ALLEN.

Dr. ALLEN graduated from Furman University in SC and Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA and completed additional graduate work at Austin Presbyterian Seminary in Austin, TX, and Union Theological Seminary in New York. He began his career as a chaplain in the U.S. Navy, serving in California and Pearl Harbor, HI during World War II.

Ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1944, Dr. Allen served churches in West Virginia, Texas, and Tennessee before being called to serve First Presbyterian Church, High Point, NC, in 1967. He and his wife, Dorothy, led several groups on trips worldwide.
