Fleeta was the daughter of Carmel Joseph and Hazel Ethel Anderson Akers. Siblings were Beatrice Elizabeth and Lucille J. She married Kenneth Hartley Gartin on June 24, 1949 in Jackson County, Missouri by her uncle, Roy Thrutchley. Their children were Dennis and Bradd. She was Assistant Vice-President of Noland Road Mercantile Bank and volunteered at Independence Regional Hospital in the Gift Shop. Paternal grandparents were Jacob Anderson Akers and Sarah Elizabeth Fields. Maternal grandparents were Dugald F. Anderson and Fleeta Beatrice Graves.
