FUNERAL OF MRS. BARNUM MONDAY - Prominent Winter Park Welfare and Church Worker Dies - Friends of Mrs. H. W. Barnum will regret to learn of her death, which came Friday afternoon at the Florida Sanitarium, following an illness of several months. Mrs. Barnum has been a resident of Winter Park since March 1, 1916, when she came with her husband and family to make this their home. She was born in Baronet, Wisconsin, where she remained for a few years only, moving with her parents to Superior, Wisconsin, where her schooling was completed in the public school, normal school and business college. She early chose a business career and was stenographer-secretary in Superior and Duluth, Minn., until about 1906.

In June, 1907, she was married to H. W. Barnum, then of Chicago, and resided there until 1916, when she came to Winter Park with her husband, who, at that time was secretary to the late Charles H. Morse, and their two children, Margaret and William, and her mother, Mrs. Margaret Willis. A few years later, her sister, Mrs. Brer Carlson, also from the north and all the above survive her as well as a brother, John E. Willis, of Haskell, Okla.
Soon after reaching Winter Park Mrs. Barnum entered into the work of the community, then war welfare work and has never ceased in her efforts to make this, her community, a better place in which to live.

She has been a member of the Welfare Board in Winter Park since its inception; has held many offices in the Woman' Club and for two years was its president, of which organization she was a life member, and was still active as chairman of the civics and welfare department at the time of being taken ill, and was also just completing her record year as president of the Winter Park Parent-Teacher Association.

While ever busy on civic affairs, she never neglected her religious duties and was a devoted member of the church, the little Catholic church of St. Margaret Mary. With all her outside interests, she was a model mother and wife.
While she had continued the work until taken ill, last November, she has not been in very good health for some time past. She was removed to the Florida Sanitarium early in December and later underwent an operation which seemed to be successful, but she was unable to overcome the ills that followed and about a week ago suffered a relapse that affected her heart. She rallied from this and it was felt the crisis had been passed Sunday.

After a fairly restful night Thursday she was apparently feeling some better, but the end came peacefully Friday, Feb. 6th, about one o'clock.

The funeral will be held from the Church of St. Margaret Mary in Winter Park on Monday morning, Feb. 9th, Rev. Father Fox will officiate, assisted by Rev. Father Kelleghan of Orlando and Rev. Father Nolan of Winter Haven. Interment will be in Palm cemetery, Winter Park.

Active pallbearers will be Leonard Bumby, Sylvester Mayer, Louie Klein, George Burke, Arnold Mickler and John J. Hennessy.

Honorary pallbearers are N. H. Schultz, Arthur Schultz, W. A. Ward, W. W. Rose, H. W. Caldwell, Hon. C. Fred Ward, R. J. Pleus, J. B. Lawton, F. W. Shepherd and D. R. Shaffer.
The remains will rest at the Carey Hand chapel in Orlando until 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon, when they will be taken to the Church of St. Margaret Mary and there rest until the funeral on Monday. There will be a rosary service tonight at 8:45 at Carey Hand's Chanel and also on Sunday night at the same time at the church in Winter Park.
