Mrs. Van Hook's Funeral Set for Wednesday
Funeral services for Mrs. P.M. VanHook, 63, who died yesterday afternoon at her residence 1108 South Washington Street, were arranged today at the Day Funeral Home. Rites were set for 2 p.m. tomorrow at the First Baptist Church, in charge of Rev. Dr. W. Douglas Rae, with burial later in the Clear Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Van Hook, ill for five years, died Monday after being critically ill for the past week. She was the wife of P. M. Van Hook , who owned Van Hook's Market on West Kirkwood Avenue for many years prior to his retirement a few years ago. She was also the mother of Clyde Van Hook, who is employed at the Figg Wholesale Grocery Company. Surviving, also, the mother, Mrs. Jane Hays; three grandchildren, James, Ronald and Jayma Sue Van Hook, along with two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Louisa Bradley and Mrs. Louisa Hays. A life resident of Monroe County, Mrs. Van Hook was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and the Pythian Sisters. Her father was Valentine Hays. Pallbearers chosen were: Homer Humphrey, Ona Semple, Arthur Rairiden, Fred W. Rumple, Charles McLain and A.L. Walters, all of the K. of P. Lodge, Pythian Sisters, Mrs. A.L. Walters, Mrs. Fred W. Rumple, Mrs. Ona Semple, Mrs. Ray Kennedy, Mrs. George Pope and Mrs. Cecil Kline are flower bearers. The body is at the home.
