Cynthia L. "Cindy" Abbey age 53, of 2077 Budzinski Road, Dryden, NY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 14, 2010. Cindy was born Nov. 28, 1956 in Ithaca, a daughter of Clyde E. Cotterill of Tavares, FL and the late Marilyn Schutt Cotterill. She was graduated from Dryden High School in 1974 and on June 7, 1975 was married to the love of her life, Dana J. Abbey. Cindy was employed in the insurance industry for many years before becoming the Police Clerk of the Dryden Village Police Department. She enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, boating, gardening, oldies music and most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren. Cindy was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and a friend to many. Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Dana J. Abbey of Dryden, her daughters and sons-in-law, Lyndsi (Jeff) Prignon and Lori (Ryan) Smith; grandchildren, Jared and Laci Prignon and Abbey and Alyson Smith; her siblings, Gary (Nancee) Cotterill, Diane (Terry) Macomber and Sherry (John) Thornton; her father, Clyde E. (Helen Thorn) Cotterill ; her mother-in-law, Dona Abbey and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Marilyn Schutt Cotterill and her brother Alan Cotterill.
Friends are invited to call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. A celebration of Cindy's life will begin at 11 AM Friday, June 18, 2010 at the funeral home with Rev. David C. Robinson officiating followed by burial in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Cindy's friends are asked to continue the celebration by joining her family at a luncheon/reception at the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home, 2272 Dryden Road, Dryden, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to the Children's Miracle Network, 600 Roe Ave., Elmira, NY 14905. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Dr.Timothy Bael's office and the caring staff of the Ithaca Medical Group Infusion Unit.
